I hope you will have traditional Black eyed peas and hog jowl, turnip greens and cabbage. Here are some links that show that this long tradition is not just a southern thing. Check these out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black-eyed_pea ; http://www.foodaq.com/html/Cooking-Recipes/110470.html;
Since New Years eve is typically celebrated with fine foods, the tradition for New Years day is more reserve, a simple meal. If you think about it, tradition has mapped out a good economic plan for centuries. Celebrate every day with the simple things in life. Enjoy what you can afford (live within your means). This is a good lesson in buying what you need and not everything you want. This will allow for you to save and plan for your future therefore allowing celebrations to be that much more special. It is my firm belief that as Americans we are a strong nation, we are smart and can reinvent ourselves to rebuild our economy make new jobs for our selves, correct mistakes and get our country out of this finical mess. I hope 2011 brings happiness, and prosperity to each of you. Happy New Year!
