Do you remember old fashion hot cocoa? This is the best!
1/2c sugar 1/3c cold water
1/4c Hershey's Cocoa 4c whole milk
dash of salt 3/4 tsp vanilla (Optional 3/4tsp peppermint)
First in a medium sauce pan mix sugar, cocoa, salt and water. Whisk until most of the lumps are out of the cocoa. A good trick is to add the water slowly. Then heat on medium heat until chocolate begins to boil, stir constantly. gradually add the milk one cup at a time stirring often. Do not let the milk boil or scorch, cook to about one fifty degrees if you are using a thermometer. Take the chocolate mixture off the heat then add vanilla. If you would like to try something a little different add peppermint. Remember to stir before pouring into cups, the chocolate will settle quickly. Enjoy and have a warm cozy evening.
